Considering that the Volkswagen 82 (Kubelwagen) proved extremely effective through campaign in Poland, it proved important to produce everincreasing levels of this vehicle. Later on, Ferdinand Porsche developed an amphibian type of this car, called the Schwimmwagen. The lightweight with this particular vehicle (about 1/2 ton) allowed crossing of dirty areas, since just two dudes had been enough to keep this vehicle going. For reconnaissance and liaison missions, water must certanly be crossed frequently, that is impossible along with other automobiles.
