Hancock first saw action with the Third Fleet in assaults on Formosa, the Philippines, Okinawa, and Japan. In 1945 the provider took part in assaults on Indo-China, Okinawa, and Japan it self. Damaged in an aircraft explosion in January 1945 and once once again by kamikaze hit in April, Hancock returned be section of Magic Carpet operations. She had been withdrawn from solution 1n 1947, and after modernization and additional solution, had been scrapped in 1976. Hancock was indeed granted the Navy product Commendation and received four battle celebrities for solution in World War II
