The Yamaha RZ250 made its first at the 1979 Tokyo Motor Show. It was driven by a 247cc 35hp 2-stroke water-cooled motor attached to the framework via two orthogonal mounts, which prevented motor vibrations from being delivered on frame. This permitted both a luxurious ride and a more lightweight dual cradle framework design. It featured monocrossrear suspension and spiral-like spoke design tires. Along side its exciting road-legal racer styling and innovative mechanical features, the bicycle left a lasting impression and became one of the most significant best-selling 250cc program bikes on the Japanese market.
