From 1997 in, the Yamaha WCM group received the sponsorship of Austrian sports beverage manufacturer Red Bull for the World course Race GP 500 course. To compete inside '99 period, the bicycle has completely tuned and modified with consideration directed at fat circulation, aerodynamics and engine performance. Cyclists Regis Laconi and Garry McCoy performed well within Valencia competition and making first and third places, correspondingly. Throughout the recent Phillip Island competition, Laconi took third location, showing the strength for the Red Bull Yamaha WCM team.
