2006 saw the development of a "new guard" to MotoGP, as Dani Pedrosa plus the young Australian Casey Stoner relocated up from 250cc course to challenge Valentino "the physician" Rossi for their 990cc crown. In addition making the relocate to MotoGP had been Team LCR, led by racing veteran and Stoner's long-time boss in 250cc course, Lucio Ceccinello. LCR combined with Honda to field the effective RC211V '06 in its final period prior to the scale-down to 800cc devices. While most of the attention in 2006 have been on Pedrosa and Hayden, Stoner place in a good performance, plainly showing their possibility of the future.
