Root of the Wing Revolution
The group Lotus Type 78 showcased its performance in to the 1977 race season. Its revolutionary design showcased a slim monocoque with side pontoons, which had undersurfaces shaped like inverted aircraft wings to generate downforce, and instantly rendered most of the competition automobile designs obsolete. The two automobiles was driven by Mario Andretti and Gunnar Nilsson that 12 months, with all the previous taking victories at U.S. western, Spanish, French, and Italiah GPs although the second won on Belgian GP. The kind 78 also proceeded to evolve into the much more famous championship-winning Type 79.
