In regards to the U.S. Tank Destroyer M10 Mid ProductionAmerica�s first tank destroyer, the M10 was indeed set up on a Sherman hull and had an available topped turret carrying a 3-inch (76.2mm) cannon good at penetrating 8.8cm of armor at 1000m distance. Because of the requirement of high flexibility, the M10 wore fairly slim armor plating. But auxiliary armor could possibly be added efficiently using the bolts on turret and hull. Facing its baptism of fire against the Germans in Tunisia in 1943, the M10 Tank Destroyer proceeded to serve in Italy, Western European countries plus the Pacific.
