The appearance of the A-10 is remarkable while its performance is amazing. Known affectionately since the "Wart Hog" by its pilots, it's a big solitary chair aircraft, identified by a pair of TF-34-100A high bypass fan jet machines mounted high near the backside the dual tailed fuselage. Some of the requirements are: Length 53' 4"; height 14'8", period 57'6"; maximum gross fat 47,400lbs, including 16,000lbs of outside shops. Internal armament may be the GAU-8/A 30mm Gatling cannon effective at 2100 or 4200 rounds each and every minute. It holds 1350 rounds of ammo, a fire control head-up display, CRT TV monitor, laser spot seeker plus a diversified armament panel that will facilitate any functional need. The A-10 is around since 1972, and contains once again proven its worth during the current Gulf war.
