Concerning the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb

The Supermarine Spitfire is looked upon by numerous as the most beautifully designed single seat fighter to appear through second World War. Conceived by the celebrated Uk designer Reginald J. Mitchell, the protoype first travelled on 5 March 1936. It had been a complicated, low wing monoplane with an incredibly slim fuselage and smooth flush riveted steel epidermis.
The Mk we and II versions demonstrated their solid performance throughout the "Battle of Britain", and also by early 1941, nearly all fighter squadrons were furnished with this fighter. Improvements was in fact suggested by the pilots and each work was indeed designed to manage its performance advantages over its opponents. Early improvements caused the Mk. V amount of Spitfires which became the numerous commonly produced form of all Mk's. The main improvement was the furnishing of three wing armament variants, in addition to the usage of the better Merlin kind 45 engine, and "fishtail" flame damping exhaust stubs. Probably the most numerous Mk.V ended up being the "b" winged variation with a blended armament of two 7.7mm device weapons and one 20mm cannon in each wing.

Even though the famous elliptical shaped wing had been retained of all of the Spitfires, some Mk. Vb's had clipped wing options for better low altitude manerverability. The Spitfire experienced many small and major modifications throughout its manufacturing life, and served with difference on every battle front part of war.
